Orthodontic retainers help to ensure you retain the straight smile you achieved during orthodontic treatment.
As we get older everything, including our teeth, undergoes slow gradual change. Following Dr Jude’s instructions carefully and correctly wearing your retainer will keep these changes to a minimum.
The two main types of retainers we use are:
Bonded retainers are the most common retainers to be used for the lower teeth. It is glued to the back of the lower six front teeth and can be left permanently in place to ensure teeth do not move.
Clear retainers are the most common retainer for the upper teeth. It is usually worn 12 hours/day (primarily while sleeping) to ensure teeth do not move.
If you want to maintain the results of your orthodontic treatment, a retainer is a must. Whether you need a permanent retainer—or one you only wear at night—Smart Smile Orthodontics has the option to suit you and your lifestyle.
