Many of our patients considering Invisalign often ask similar questions surrounding the Invisalign treatment and a lot of these questions are often regarding food: what can I eat? Is there anything I can’t eat with Invisalign?

What can I drink with Invisalign?
Always try to opt for cold or room-temperature water! If you drink hot tea or coffee, or even hot water, you may risk your aligners melting or altering the shape of their fit, even while wearing them!
Our team also recommends that anyone that would like to enjoy alcohol, sparkling or carbonated (fizzy) drinks, and soft drinks, remove their clear aligner while consuming.
Can I eat with my Invisalign?
No. While it may be tempting to see what it’s like to eat with Invisalign, it’s best not to.
When eating with Invisalign, be sure to always place your Invisalign back in its case. We understand that it may seem easier just to put the Invisalign on a napkin on the table, however, Invisalign is very lightweight and virtually invisible.
So as a precautionary measure to not lose your Invisalign, always ensure you place it back in its case.
Will I need to change my diet for Invisalign?
No. Unlike traditional metal braces, you are not limited to certain foods with Invisalign. Thanks to Invisalign’s revolutionary removable structure, you do not have to worry about cutting your food up into smaller, manageable pieces or avoiding any foods and essentially changing your diet.
Always be sure to consult with your orthodontist about foods you may be worried about consuming or regarding your diet. Our team of specialists will guide you in the right direction!
How do I clean my Invisalign aligner?
Even if you’re extremely vigilant about cleaning your teeth in between eating and before putting your Invisalign trays back in your mouth, your aligners will still need cleaning!
Bacteria and some debris may build up in the grooves of your tray, trapping these nasties against your teeth and gums. Always be sure to not only clean your teeth in between putting your Invisalign in and eating but also clean your Invisalign trays.

Pro Tip: Don’t leave your Invisalign near pets!
We’re not kidding! If you’re taking your Invisalign out during meal time, be sure to place it back in its case and out of reach from children or pets. Dogs in particular love nothing more than snacking on a set of Invisalign and may find a way to get into the case so be sure to always keep the aligners out of reach.
